PRP Hair Restoration in Seattle

What is PRP Hair Restoration?

PRP hair restoration is a non-surgical treatment that stimulates hair growth by using the body’s own platelet-rich plasma to nourish hair follicles and encourage regeneration. It helps improve hair thickness, reduce shedding, and promote stronger, healthier hair over time.

Frequently asked questions

How does the PRP performed?

A small amount of your blood is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and then the PRP is injected into targeted areas of your scalp.

Does PRP for hair regrowth hurt?

Discomfort is typically minimal. A numbing agent will be used to help make the process more comfortable.

Is PRP hair treatment permanent?

PRP is not a permanent cure for hair loss. Ongoing maintenance sessions are recommended to sustain results.

Who's a good candidate for PRP hair treatment?

PRP hair therapy works best for people with early-stage thinning hair or mild-to-moderate pattern baldness, where follicles are still active but weakening.

Who's NOT a good candidate?

PRP hair therapy is not a good option if you have advanced baldness with no remaining hair follicles, such as a completely smooth bald scalp. It also won’t work well if you have scarring alopecia or long-standing alopecia areata with no active follicles. People with chronic illnesses like uncontrolled diabetes, blood disorders, or active infections should avoid PRP.

When will I see results?

You may notice a decrease in hair shedding in the first few weeks. Visible hair growth often begins around 3 months, with more noticeable improvement after 4–6 months.

How many sessions are needed?

Most people need an initial series of 3–4 treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 4–6 months.

Can PRP be combined with other treatments?

Yes! PRP can be combined topical treatments, or oral medications like finasteride or minoxidil for enhanced results.

Are there any side effects?

Because PRP uses your own blood, risks are minimal. You may experience mild swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites for a day or two.

PRP Hair Pre-Treatment Guidelines

  • Avoid blood-thinning agents (such as aspirin, fish oil, omega-3 supplements, and vitamin E) for 7 days before your treatment to help minimize bruising.

  • Do not take anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil) for 3 days prior to treatment, as they may interfere with the body’s natural healing process.

  • Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure leading up to your appointment.

  • Stay well hydrated for at least 72 hours before your procedure. Adequate hydration supports a higher yield of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) during your treatment.

  • Avoid alcohol for 2 days prior to your appointment. Alcohol can increase the risk of bleeding and reduce the body’s ability to fight infection.

  • Minimize or refrain from smoking for 3 days before and 1 day after your procedure. Smoking can impact healing and reduce oxygen delivery to the treated area, potentially affecting results.
